Charlie O’Connor

About Charlie

Raised in Reno, Nevada, Charlie began his training in the performing arts at the age of five. In addition to tap and jazz, much of Charlie’s early training was based in the theatre arts. In his undergraduate program, Charlie focused on movement analysis. Charlie continued to develop his work and education in physical theatre while apprenticing with Puer Aeternus Ensemble Theatre Company, receiving kinesthetic training under the tutelage of Joseph Ivo Von Vespri in the pedagogy of Jacques Le Coq. Charlie’s investigations in movement and embodiment led him to begin training in ballroom dance after his move to Philadelphia in 2014.

Career

Throughout his career, Charlie has spent a great deal of time volunteering with various organizations teaching theatre, dance, and other performing arts. His desire for social engagement and community outreach through his artistic mediums stem from the belief that embodiment and movement offer a unique opportunity for healing.
